Without FTTH, at&t must rely on price alone to compete.
I have SBC DSL and like it very much, but don't see a real bright long-term future for it. |

| Cable 6mb is quite useless if ya just surfing or downloading pretty slow 50-100kb/sec on p2p. BS charges 24.95 for 256/128, 34.95 for 1.5/256
Neither offer any great value for the budget consumer. |

Chicago, IL | As someone already stated, it's not a great deal since you're required to have local phone service with AT&T. I don't have land line, I use my cell phone, so that means $14.95 contract for 6 months and also $15/month for the cheapest AT&T local phone service that I won't be using.
When AT&T offers naked DSL service than it might be a deal worth looking into. |

| HOw can ya say that??? landlane has it's uses, unlimited local calling. Try using more then you are given on cellular and see how much you're gonna rack up. cost me goddamn 88 bucks from sprint cause I spend only an hour more then what I am given. can you use dialup when ya internet connection is down with cellphone? i cannot believe someone who is this cheap yet rather pay much more for cable. |

Heck ya it's a great deal. It's only $30 for DSL and a phone line including taxes, fees and other little charges. $30. Plus it comes with dial-up access numbers when you are travelling. Handy.
AT&T is targeting the folks who are still paying $15-25 a month for dial-up via Earthlink, AOL, MSN and other ISP's. They want the bread and butter market not so much the power nerd market that this website caters to.
I had Comcast for over 3 1/2 years. When I switched I could not notice any difference. |
