Just a quick clarification. The President has to pay his own personal expenses. The government picks up the bill on State Dinners and actual government related business (which takes up a lot of the total in his meals), but if he wants a sandwich at midnight, it comes out of his pocket. Basically, just like with any executive, if it is work related it can be charged, if it isn't it cannot. |
