Rural Access in Bertram

Educate a rookie...please

I'm moving to Bertram this summer. There is no DSL or Cable where I am moving too. Is my only choice satellite?

If no, please advise
If yes, why is that technology so expensive? Must be a supply/demand issue.

Only chance would be wireless or ISDN.

Clearwire uses the cell towers for the internet. (I don't know if this a Central Texas ie...Temple area thing or not.)

Or ISDN. VERY stable, but pricey. expect $70-90 / month for 128k/128k

BTW satellite is crap for gaming. If you want to game at all online, satellite it NOT the way to go.

I've been wondering about Cell towers...

I noticed that Verizon, Sprint, Cingular everyone seems to be offering internet access and I was wondering if it operated similar or was the same technology as a cell phone.

It's funny there is a monster tower in downtown Bertram. Yet when I go to Verizon, Sprint and the other service provider websites, none of them say they have service in Bertram. Do you know of a site that I could go to, to find out who owns/operates a specific tower.
