this is really making me furious, i cant believe they've decided to throttle port 1720, isn't that the port for voip? are there any other ports we can use?

Oh well back to BitComet with the header encryption for now... anyone know if i can get out of my 2 year contract because of this or the upcoming rate hike? Not to mention loss of newsgroups!

not alot... before i knew about port 1720 i used to get maybe 30-50k/s (down from 200+ pre-trottling)... right now i'm only getting 10k/s but i only have 1 torrent going. I think it went best before with a bunch going the same time. It only works when the sender also has BitComet.

Hmm, I guess they've started throttling port 1720 and 1755 too.

Quite possibly in some areas where they have no VoIP subscribers.

Well as of this morning, my speeds have been bad on port 1720..using 3web (rogers). Yonge + Lawrence area.

My speeds are non-existant now. I was hoping it was an issue with my ports, but I guess those bastards have blocked the ports. I have no other alternative to Rogers in my area, so I really hope someone comes up with a way around it.

My BT was still going pretty good b4 I went to bed last night. Today, it get down to below 5 kb/s. I guess ... they have really blocked up port 1720 for BT traffic.

yonge and lawrence area.

I don't think it's just areas where they don't have VOIP subscribers - I'm at Danforth and Broadview and I'd be very surprised if there wasn't any VOIP in this area.

And, yes, my BTs suck huge today as well.
