Re: Project Pronto and Alcatel 1000 Well, tomorrow has arrived . IMO, you're experiencing unnecessary anxiety over getting your final IP assignments. Other then for pre-configuring purposes, does it really matter whether you get your IP assignments 2 months or 2 seconds before you go 'live'?
If this is a tech install and like all the enhanced DSL installs I've had, the tech will (and should) get your first machine up and running - once that's done, you can register or whatever else you feel is out of sequence. I wouldn't be surprised if, contrary to what the help desk said, the tech had your other IP assignments as well.
I hope all goes well for you ...

kenspi join:2000-08-28 Burbank, CA | Everything went extremely well. This was a self-install, so I changed the VPI/VCI and got sync. So, the woman at the "Help" Desk was completely wrong, and the Alcatel 1000 works like a champ on Pronto. Oh, and I didn't have to register to get my IPs, but a simple phone call to a real Help Desk was all it took. |

I understood your anxiety, but I couldn't reassure you by saying for sure that what the first help desk told you would be the procedure was right or wrong - all of my installs were done by techs. I'm glad it wasn't as complex as what you were first led to believe ...

| reply to kenspi I had the same problem with Pacbell telling me that my Alcatel 1000 modem would not work on the Pronto Remote Terminal. I asked them if there was a way to change my current hardware and they were telling me no that I have to buy a new modem.
Anyway the VPI/VCI settings were easy to change within like 5 min. Very simple fix. But you know they probably just want more people to buy their stupid newer modems.
