Don't know about that. When I got my Verizon DSL connected at my home-dock, VZ sent me a "free" wireless linksys router. I have the wireless on, and open (default). Every once in a while, someone comes by and says thanks for the connection (I broadcast my Boat's name as the SSID), they pulled into the marina, discovered a "hot spot", and used it.

I am only using a piece of VZ supplied gear the way they sent it to me, how can they complain?

This whole "FON" thing is a bunch of crap, why should I pay FON to open up my router for others to use? Open 802.11 is almost everywhere, and should be encouraged, as a step towards community WiFi.

Giving access to wifi is like giving the keys to your house or even sharing that computer network with everyone..

All done without the knowledge of the customer until after the fact. That is until an end user violated some unspoken, undocumented, unaddressed issue in the TOS. I don't see TOS being a problem if a broadband provider decided to or not participate.

In the US, the only ISP showing interest is Speakeasy. I don't see many others joining in.
