the fcc doesn't care about cable anymore. They gave up control over cable companies when congress passed the telecom act of 1996. No telling if the new head of the FCC will retake control of cable companies with the pending buyout of adelphia by comcast and time warner though.
I'm not sure that's true mikedz4 . Over in the Verizon Fiber Optics forum, someone posted a topic with evidence that the FCC intends to do some more meddling:
