Yeah. I was disappointed to find that my tier 2 option is only 512K upload. I guess the people still stuck on 128K upload will tell me I should not complain, but I am going to anyway.

yep, and unfortunately most (residential) broadband is Asymmetrical... either way, those are some terrible upload rates...
I'm very satisfied w/the Cox here now that it's actually working as advertised. 10/1 @ $40 for 3 months... $55 afterwards... the meg of upload is more like it, even though I don't upload a bunch, it's very nice to have when I do need it for a file that's larger than say 10MB.

I couldn't imagine paying over $100 for 'net access... unless it were full tilt 100down 10 up at least. ...heck, make it 50/50, that's worth a buck a month.

Yeah, because so many other providers offer symmetrical links to residential customers.

It's not just TWC that you should complain about.

Not even FIOS is symmetrical.

And if you knew how the upstream from the cable modem worked, you'll know why existing technology will never give you 10/10, 15/15, or 30/30.

I do know how it works, thanks!
I also know about Verizon's anemic fiber offerings. FiOS is a joke for fiber!

Seeing as there are a couple of ISPs that ARE offering symetrical speeds over fiber(albeit very limited areas), for $40-$45 per month... we know it *IS* possible.

More ISPs need to get on the ball and start piping up our lines. Whether it is cable with channel bonding(DOCSIS 3.0) or going all out and start putting more fiber in our diets.

It could be if VZ wasn't so chintzy with the upload, although they have to protect their overpriced business class service.

You can never be too rich, too thin or have too much Bandwidth

Oh yeah! I forgot about that. Road Runner has business class tiers if you are willing to shell out more bucks for higher upload speed. And there, ladies and gentlemen, is why you will never see symmetric residential service.

I didn't say ANYTHING about there not being symmetrical fiber offerings. I said cable modems, for 10/10, 15/15, 30/30, etc.

It's call marketing. Most will think 30/512k is just as good as 30/30.

It is possible, but how do you expect them to do it with the PON they have now and 32 customers per node. I don't think you appreciate oversubscription. Although, I agree that they should oversubscribe in terms of bandwidth. They should just offer a 30/30 package because most of the 32 will never max out upload 24/7.
