rural wyoming

it's probly very safe to say that few of us will live to see a residential broadband package that's not only fast (50mb+), but also synchronous....

aside from that, i'm up in northern wyoming, in a small farming community...we got dsl here 3 years ago, starting with a 256kb synchronous line for $40 a month (:o)...they've since upgraded us, and service is 1mb/768k for the same price...users have the option to pay 20 bucks more a month to double speed (i'm not sure about upload, but download for sure)...and $10 a month extra will open all ports...they dont use any throttling or traffic shaping, either...seems weird to me, but i do like how relatively good the upload is here.

my dad's lives in denver and has CC...6meg/384kb...and he forks over $60 or so a month for that...

so to whoever said 10mb wasnt fast anymore, try living with 1mb and not having much faster available....

then again, a 100mb synchronous pipe would be nice
