Re: Comcast Ordered to Issue Refunds

I believe this is where the real problem lies though:

Basic rates will not be regulated unless the franchising authority files a certification form (Form 328) with the FCC.

Yes, I saw that. I still think you should file a 329 (if you can find one). Explain that you wish to complain about limited (not expanded) basic, and that you tried resolving your complaint with your local franchise authority, but they will not admit to being the franchise authority.

I think the only way Comcast rate increases will stabilize, is when FIOS-TV gets here. There's a reason they had tons of cash to buy Disney.
Let's hope FIOS will give the practical monopoly some real competition, and a reality check!

@comcast.net

if the states dont grant statewide franchise agreements (which IMO is a good thing, because a state wide franchise agreement is a bad thing for local municipalites) then FIOS-TV may take forever and a day to get to most of us. If Verizon is still in business by then.

Verizon doesnt look like it wants to pursue local agreements, as from what is being reported they are spending all their time lobbying for a statewide agreement, which, most believe, wont come in most cases (some have already been granted, but dont look for many to be) Without a franchise agreement, no Fios-TV, without FIOS-TV in a large area, Verizon = in serious financial trouble

According to RockyMountainNews.com, ~2% of Comcast subscribers can expect a refund, which will cost Comcast ~$2.6 million.

In the Denver area:

Denver, Glendale and Englewood subscribers should receive a $2.50 credit

Aurora and Lone Tree subscribers should receive a $1.25 credit.
