Come on rates expiring; so average price matching costs

As the special introductory below cost rates expire, many users are starting to pay the full price of DSL service. Therefore, the average price is rising to cover the cost of providing the service. You can't get a free ride forever.

A quote from dave burstein's latest dslprime report to give a little different color to this:

" AT&T/SBC meanwhile is doing a $13 promotion, while claiming costs are going down so fast margins are increasing."

This discussion is omitting the folks who have stepped up to the next higher speed plan, which costs more than what they had before. That also increases the "average price" people are paying. We see a lot of these upgrades in the SBC/Ameritech forum. In fact, there is an avalanche of them every time SBC runs a promo. So yeah, they're paying about $10 more, but getting 2x or 4x the speed as well.
