Well, it looks like the longer listening time is here! I've been listening for at least 30 minutes. When the time is up (and when the clamshell is closed) the alert light flashes and the phone starts to vibrate requesting you push a button if you want to continue listening.

Later in the spring, it will have no time outs market wide as Sprint doesn't like to deploy one market at a time like others. Video on the other hand, is limited by the content provider, not Sprint. Didn't have time to view more providers. This IS FOR battery conservation. The issue with timeouts has to do with protocol between eqp. It's not a phone, battery issue. A fix is being worked on as Sprint is aware of the problem. Thats all I could find out. :(

Add edit: Remember, it doesn't affect data. That's what EVDO was pushed out as (or as power vision), as did Verizon in the first days. But now V seems to be showing the streaming side of new service. Any Verizon types want to chime in to see if they have the same problem? Oh that's right. I haven't tethered by phone for mobile Inet, but the general service through the phone is really nice. Speed is much "snappier" than the regular Vision service. The browsing is what someone who is use to BB comes to expect. Near instant page loads. I'm using Mini Opera as well, and it is welcome change from the included browser.

In all, I like the service.

Another benefit is that Sprint phones can run java midp applications programmed by anyone, which seems superior to the brew java that, for example, Verizon uses. One of my favorite applications is Opera Mini, which works great on my phone. A version customized for Sprint can be downloaded by pointing the phone browser at mini.opera.com/sprint. Another crucial application is google local, at google.com/glm. It functions just like Google Maps, but on a phone screen (satellite view and all). I typically (try to) listen to Sirius Hits, but I noticed that after exactly 15 minutes, the stream drops and you have to reconnect to it.

Right before it drops, it promps you to "press any key" to stay connected. Obviously there is a built in timeout feature. So far, I've only done this while my phone was running on battery, not plugged in so I don't know if this prompt is only a power source related.

Does anyone know if there is a way to keep the music streaming without having to manually reconnect to it?
