No surprise here!

Most cable companies do NOT want any competition, so this does not surprise me in the least...
Right now most cable companies enjoy near monopoly status in the neighborhoods they serve, and will do anything to keep out competitors, even going so far as to have roof mounted satellite dishes ruled illegal... (It failed, in my area)
They even put up ads that are blatantly false when it come to reception via satellite dishes during rain, which we have all seen...
FIOS offers an next gen approach to feeding data, TV, phone, etc to a person's house, a direct competitor to cables little domain.
The future holds hope for all of us with competition..

I got something in the mail from Comcast one time regarding the local sports channel call Comcast Sports Net which shows the Capitals and Wizard games.

The flyer said that the channel was "exclusive" to Comcast Cable. This of course was a total lie. DirecTV has always had the channel since way before Comcast bought the naming rights.

The mounting of a rood dish or any dish for that matter is nothing that can be stopped on a local level in the first place. A dish is allowed to be mounted at any structure, even a rented apartment per federal rules. If the only location is a roof for signal, then it is allowed. It CAN, however, be challenged on the roof if there is another position that it can be mounted out of plain view.

But, cable is not a monopoly since satellite has come along. If you are claiming it's a monopoly because satellite is a service from the sky, then the same will be said when Fios comes to the area. Cable - coax delivery, Satellite, p2p delivery, Telephone Services, delivered through Fiber. You can't claim monopoly on cable due to the fact that satellite is a wireless service. Do you turn on your TV and get a signal? Then you have a choice.

They even put up ads that are blatantly false when it come to reception via satellite dishes during rain, which we have all seen...
Rain fade is a fact. Snow, wind, etc, all can and do affect satellite service. Where is it "blatantly false" when it comes to those ads? Want to hear lies? Listen to satellite speak of cable. Satellite makes far more dangerous claims about cable than cable does about sat. Satellite will soon have to stop talking about digital cable being "partially digital" when in fact in many areas, that's a flat out lie.

Minneapolis is a pure digital system when it comes to "digital cable" yet they still run ads that claim it's not. I think it's time for them to stop running lies or start disclaiming their own ads.

Sat also loves to talk about contracts that cable requires you to be in and how THEIR service puts a DVR in your home without any start up costs or equipment to buy as is with cable.

Get your facts straight please.

FIOS offers an next gen approach to feeding data, TV, phone, etc to a person's house, a direct competitor to cables little domain. The future holds hope for all of us with competition..
You are correct and Verizon is no innocent party to all of this. You want to sell a service? SELL IT! Shut the FU about the competition and sell your own service. If Verizon's FiOS product is so good, then they don't need to talk about cable now do they? If you want to complete, then sell your product at a good price. I swear, the reason why I stop watching tv for about 3 months out of the year every two months is because I am tired of all the politicians slinging mud at each other. "Joe Thomas is a creep, he beats little ladies for fun. Vote form Steve Johnson!" What does that do, really? What did we learn about Steve Johnson? That he hasn't beaten a lady? When I watch a comercial for Qwest, I hear about how bad cable is and when I see a cable comercial, I hear about how bad telephone is. When do I get to hear about how good the product they want me to buy is?
