ToadmanHypnotoad join:2001-11-28 Ohio kudos:1 | How is this illegal I fail to understand why this is illegal. the pamphlets were left on a doorstep, and someone took them. If someone broke into a car to get the pamphlets, then I see the issue.
Everyone is in business to eliminate the competitor. If it was you and some yahoo was going around leaving your competitor's pamphlets at doorsteps, I doubt that you wouldn't grab them either. |

The next time you have a package delivered to your door, let me know. Since you claim it's not illegal to take something that doesn't belong to you if it's left on someone else's doorstep, I'm sure you won't complain about me taking your package. -- "...a wiretap requires a court order." » George W. | Well, in many municipalities soliciting is illegal, hence Verizon was breaking the law and RCN was cleaning up their mess. I'd love to have someone like the guy in the black car come and take all the take out menus, calling cards or "Jesus will save you!" fliers that appear on my door and windshield wipers literally and litter-ally every day. |

What planet are you from? Its not RCN's job to clean up someone else's potential mess unless someone hires them to do so. And it certainly isn't at anyone's discretion but the resident to claim its a mess and wishing RCN to 'clean it up'. Show me a few residents that have complained to RCN about a mess and requested that RCN clean up Verizon's so-called mess.
Most municipalities doesn't mean this is the case at hand. And most isn't all, and most is frivolously being used here unless you have stats to back it up. Most, to me, means a majority. And what if Verizon were to mail those brochures via the USPS? I'm sure RCN would love to break a federal mail-tampering law, too.
Sounds like RCN can't compete, at least not honestly. |

I probably should of rewrote this. This was in an apartment complex, 1st off, going on someone's private property I can see being an issue. Second, this is of something that is advertising, not of value. |

 | reply to GhostDoggy Oh, I like having competition between people putting fliers on my door and people who take them away. But forget about me, sounds like you're pretty wound up about this, do you have vested interest in Verizon? Just asking, 'cause you shouldn't give a crap about either companies, just the poor chaps getting bombarded with unsolicited marketing junk that lies to them about the great unlimited and ultra fast Internet that awaits them if they sign up. Now that's illegal too. |
