So let them, but don't help.

China wants the many benefits of an open Internet while placing massive restrictions on what their populace can access. So they should be allowed to create their own country specific Internet. At which point, the world wide Internet should just shut down feeds into China.

Just on general principles, you shouldn't be able to benefit from open information services while simultaneously shunning open information.

I wish. Not to mention China has THE dirtiest networks of any country in the world. Everything from DoS attacks, phishing/spam, proxy abuse, etc. You name it and it runs wild over there targeting US networks. Wanna see some proof?

Check that every couple days, see where the majority of the AS's are located.

Disagreeing with Chinese government policy is one thing.
Punishing the good people of China or further restricting their access to information by shutting down "feeds into China" would be aiding the very government policies I disagree with.

I have proof in my logs. All port scans blocked by my firewall in the last 3-4 months have all resolved back to a Chinese ISP. Lucky for me its been a very small range of IP address and after sending my logs to RoadRunner, I've surprisingly had a major drop in port scans.

It might also serve to get the Chinese people to effect change.
