Houston, TX | The real issue All of you are missing the really heinous aspect of this entire thing. The DNS system relies on there being one top-level DNS for each domain - the root server. China is now creating their own .COM root, separate from the .COM root used by the rest of the world. Now you will never know whether an address will resolve or not. If someone tells you to go to pandas.com it may or may not take you where the person wanted you to go.
Yes, the censorship is an issue, but the TLD issue is much more serious to the integrity of the Internet. |
