 | The solution is sooo simple Just let them install the new.net spyware virus! It redirects all your DNS queries anyway.
But seriously, is anyone even remotely surprised? The chinese can 'invisibly redirect' queries to .com domains much easier. In fact, they can actively shut down port 53 UDP, to prevent anyone from using ANY servers inside their country. That effectively means, you CANNOT run your own DNS server internally in china, and use the correct root hints. The only place china needs to filter will be at the root servers in their country. It can pass through, filter, or outright block recursive queries.
So, google 'world' version is irrelevant. The only thing google china can ever index is stuff that's approved in china (since the google servers in china will be forced to use the chinese dns, it will only find servers the chinese wants it to find).
All in all, a brilliant technical solution to their problem.
Having said that, China has the worst possible solution there is. It's the complete bastardization of what makes the internet work. It's done in the name in control and power, not in the name of technology. It's only purpose is to subvert the masses, and force it's view of the world on all the people it services..
To follow up. Replace the word China with 'Verizon' or 'SBC' or 'Comcast' in the last paragraph. There is no difference between what china is doing, and what verizon wants to do. -- Flabby? pastey-skinned? riddled with phlebitis? Then you've got a good Republican body! So compare your lives to mine, and then kill yourself. |
