Bigger risks

I love it how these morons can pick and choose their danger de jour, yet they conveniently ignore the dangers we know are out there. Let's see...

1. Cigarette smoke: Not only is this dangerous for the people doing it, but second-hand smoke is dangerous for everyone.

2. Automobile exhaust: Cars, trucks, and other vehicles are some of the biggest polluters out there. It wouldn't be terribly hard to replace many of them with public transit. Not only would pollution be decreased, but we'd all be spending much less time stuck in traffic.

3. Industrial pollution: Factories churn out tons of industrial waste every year, stuff that we have to find somewhere to dispose of. Why aren't we requiring them to change their production methods so they make less of it?

4. Nuclear waste: This stuff will be around for thousands of years, it can kill or cause radiation poisoning. yet we keep making more and more of it.

5. Our diets: If you've seen the movie "Super Size Me", you'll know what I mean. If you haven't, go watch it. Our diets are often times terrible for our health, yet people are getting fatter and fatter.

I'd love to see how these folks would respond to this, assuming, of course, that they even have the mental capacity to comprehend it. If they could, and if they were being truthful, they'd probably say, "Yeah, but these problems are hard to solve, and solving them would mean I'd have to alter my lifestyle, and I don't want to do that. I'd rather find something that's easy to do, so I can pat myself on the back and feel like I accomplished something."
