Is there a reason why some peoples cran hops have hostnames and others are just IP addresses?

For example, when I trace google it looks like this:

The cran hops don't have any hostnames. But previous in the thread, others could see names that would give an idea of location. The OP has this too where the hops are un named.

Yes, because Comcast hasn't assigned any forward or reverse DNS to them. It's their own responsibility. The reason (plain, simple, and factual): their hostmaster is lazy.

Comcast is great in the DC/Baltimore area. Ive had it for 2 yrs, not 1 TV/CHSI outtage so far. Someone is always home, No reports of ANYTHING not working during that time. Always someone home using TV/CHSI.

Maybe it is just that no hostname is needed, you know it is within the Comcast network so why add a hostname?

Because they've done it elsewhere? For standardization? To make people like me quit whining? I can come up with a ton of good reasons to make it the same across their entire network.
