AntiVir has worked great for the past few years on my XP, but I don't like the v7 update. You can of course run an AV + AT together in real time, which is what quite a few of us do, including myself, with NO problems. In fact it's another sheild in the armormont against nasties.

In my case, one PC runs SUSE. Another is Windows but is single-user. That is, it does require logon, but I'm the only one who uses it.

Are the WMF exploit hit we found out that by default KAV DOES NOT scan all file extension. That probably explains why they are so snappy compared to NAV. KAV actually had to patch the product in order to catch that threat. Totally unacceptable.

I dont like NOD32 because it is a sitting duck when it comes to terminating it or deleting its keys files etc. Any AV product nowadays thats wants to call itself an AV product must protect itself from attack.

NOD32 was my first preference but with NOD32 (and most other paid-for AV's) would legally need four (4) licenses.

With BitDefender 9 Standard needed only three (3) licenses. BitDefender license allows installation on one (1) desktop PC and one (1) portable belonging to the licensee -- noticeable cost savings for initial purchase and renewals.

Outpost, Sygate and Kerio work fine with NOD32, too.

I used KAV for a year or so, but it slowed things down considerably. ZAPro plus Dlink router. I have never had a problem with NOD32, when I was running my Win98SE system. When I built the new computer, I purchased another license for it, and will continue to have two licences to NOD32.
