Using WDS with access points

I'm wondering if anyone can help with a question about using WDS. If I connect two Office Connect a/b/g Access Points (3CRWE454A72U) using WDS, can wireless clients still connect to the radios that WDS uses for the connection. I'm concerned that the WDS connection perhaps ties up the radios it's using, either on the "source" access point or on both access points.

For example: If I connect the two access points using the B/G radios for the WDS connection, can a wireless client using the "source" access point still connect to it using 802.11b/802.11g, or would they have to use 802.11a? And similarly would a wireless client using the "receiving" access point still be able to connect to it using 802.11b/802.11g, or would they also have to use 802.11a?

thanks,
Mike

It depends on the specific AP, but in this case, yes, the AP can do WDS and do client access at the same time on the same radio.

There are 2 radios in this AP, the 2.4Ghz one and the 5Ghz one.

So WDS ties up whichever radio you use for it? In other words if I use the B/G radio for WDS, I can only use the A radio for wireless clients and vice versa?

thanks,
Mike

Oops. Sorry. Didn't read that reply closely enough. "The AP can do WDS and do client access at the same time on the same radio" Answers my question perfectly.

thanks,
Mike
