AT&T just call 300 = $16.00
AT&T Canada Plus = $5.95
= $22.00
Add in a few extra minutes of use, and I'm at $23 pretty easily.

Most of the former SBC discount programs require local+ld

The point I'm trying to make is that AT&T does not want to 'lose' any money by opening up local+ld to VoIP competition.
I expect prices to rise after 1year contracts, and a HUGE push for the ADSL2+/VDSL higher speed/rates to be able to able to attempt to compete with cable for speed (and be able to charge more $$$). Future:
DLS (1.5 / 384kbps) $20 + required AT&T Call Vantage ($30) + 'transport' fee (aka landline fee ) $ 10 + taxes/fees/surcharges/unfees

Pricing works out to be pretty similar after al the dust clears.
