Re: WPA2 AES or WPA2 AES + TKIP?

Not the usual SP2 menu-another registry hack? Try this: right click on the spinning ball, select "open network connections", then hit F5.

Just to be sure.. DHCP Media Sense has nothing to do with any of this, right? I disabled that with a registry tweak, and thinking that it may be related to the problem, rolled back that tweak last night, but the issue persisted. So I guess that's irrelevant?

Also.. just to "synchronize" this thread with the one over at linksysinfo.org, here's the list of components I removed in the Windows setup I'm currently running, with nLite:

Bear in mind that if you think you see something important removed, like "Ethernet (LAN)", it just means that I removed the Windows included driver for that, which, if you install the device manufacturer's driver for it, does not matter. In this particular case, I installed the Realtek LAN drivers for my NIC, otherwise Internet access from my laptop would not even be possible.

Holy Batman, that worked! The yellow balls are gone, on both the LAN and WLAN icons in the tray . Yay! Question is.. what difference does it make?

EDIT:
None, it turns out. Even though the wireless icon doesn't have the acquiring network address yellow ball anymore, the connection is just as dead as before.

What I'm terribly confused about is this:

When I unplug the ethernet cable and rely on the wireless signal, which the system tells me is EXCELLENT, and try to ping the router, I get the above.

What gives? The ping works perfectlly when using the ethernet cable/wired connection.

I just tried again using just the wireless signal, and got this:

I think I have to restore an earlier image of my system and see if in that state, it will work. It may be something installed somewhere in the last few days that's causing the problem.
