Re: How do I get the newsticker back to the top?said by MorWired:said by justin: if you click the word Ticker or visit »/tickerconfig you can select it off or on or top or bottom.
Thank you very much. I tried that first, before posting, hoping it would do just that, but it (Ticker) took me to the front page, and I scrolled down it, and didn't see (probably missed?) the configuration link. Absolutely perfect. Thank you kindly. Yes thank you for that option. When I first came here today, I saw ADS and this stuff also at the top (ruining the screen real estate even more that it is already ruined by the pin yourself link) and ALSO at the bottom! I was logged in but I was seeing ads. I was on IE7. So, I switched to Fx because I knew I could just use RIP and get rid of all that stuff that I don't use and which uses up precious screen real estate and is very distracting. I wanted to use IE7 so I came here, after getting rid of it on Fx with RIP, and see that I can toggle it off if I wish. I did that and now I can use IE7 again. When I want to read the news here, I simply go to the main page. I don't like or use any sort of RSS feeds or news tickers. When I want to read the news, I will do so. I also never watch previews of movies or tv shows as that ruins the show ...same thing with something like this. Read or don't read it but don't give me "teasers". So I really appreciate the ability to toggle this off. Thanks! |

The hide function does NOT work for me (Firefox 1.5.0.1. I read news and it reappears and the header even shows up on the spellchecker |

Did you save the changes to your preferences and clear your cache? I'm using Firefox 1.5, and it stays hidden for me. |

as linked above, the thing to eliminate read items is not implemented yet -- and -- the news is selected from the past 48 hours, not just today. |

Justin, If you don't mind, please post a note here when the news ticker is complete. It really sucks the way it is now and I just turned it off... Sure liked the original way news was handled. |

Lived with it for a few weeks now. Have not read a news story since then. Just not going to arrow button through the headlines. |

A different random headline should show every page, so if you do not get interested in one that you see, I'm not sure why you'd be interested in one if you see 5 at once. |

Think of the "old" one with a link next to each one labelled "ignore" or similar. I used to use it like this: -look at list on top left -click on most interesting stories -go do something else -look at list on top left -click on most interesting stories Eventually the ones that I was not interested in would pop off the list. It was simple and very unobtrusive. |

I'm set to "news only" and "hide" read items, but it still keeps displaying news that I've already read. Must I read it through the top link to make it "read"? |
