ddoggma : OK now I'm pissed :) I got a .74kb down last night. Thats right 14x slower that 14kb modems from 1980. I hope Comcast is trolling in here cause I want you to see this. "I'm leaving!" Verison is in the hood, and I'm gonnajump in with them. As fast as I can make the switch, I will. It was "OK" for the last 2 or 3 days, Now it back to the same night time crap. And now its bad in the morning too. Your techs are morons, I'm sick of the freakin script they start to recite,every time we call to find out whats up. Just tell me your network is having "issues". They must be crazy to let this go on,like this. They are gonna loose a bunch of people I would think...... :uhh:

15 mins after I posted this...it was back to 6mp down 370 kb up. What a rollercoaster :huh:

rattili : I am in Collegeville, PA and I started noticing 2 mbps speeds for the past week or so. Uploads are fine at about 350 kbps. The tech came out last night and hooked in his crappy RCA and lo and behold it went upto 9-10 mbps!! I plugged in my SB4100 and it's back to 2 mbps down. He said I should get a new modem. I did the testing couple of times with both his modem and my modem and the speed results were consistent. I guess I'll have to eat the price now since there's no DSL or FIOS around where I live(off of Old State Rd). Anyone else have any other suggestions?

rsd99 : for the past few weeks i have been experiencing slow speeds on my Comcast HSI. i would run a speakeasy speedtest and i would be getting the 8 megs that i am paying for, but now for the past few weeks i have barely been getting 4 megs, nowhere even near the 6 megs that even the regular users are supposed to get.

i called comcast and they said that the upstream levels on my cable modem were low. they scheduled a tech to come out on satuday. well the tech showed up, and did a signal test with his meter and it tested out ok. next we plugged my notebook directly into my cable modem (a motorola surfboard 4100) and got the same results so that told me it was not a problem on my internal network. then we tried a new cable modem he had with him (an rca modem) and we barely got 2.5 megs out of it. he next called someother guy on his nextel, and he said that there has been a problem in the phoenixville area.

the tech then told me that they will be upgrading the area to a 16 qam. now i have no clue what that means. it was supposed to happen this week, but the guy on the other end of the nextel was not sure when it would happen.

does anyone else live in the phoenixville, PA area? are you experiencing this problem?

let me know.

thanks in advance
-rob
