I keep telling myself that I'm in the wrong field  :o<br><br>A while ago within a week of each other I had two boards fail and neither will POST :(  One definitely has a bad capacitor (it pushed out the top and leaked) and the other has been running with questionable caps too.  Both are Asus boards, but my CUSL2-C is still crunching strong!<br><br>One of these was my HTPC and I recently figured some upgrading was in order so the new army consists of:<br><br>P3 2 x 1.4G<br>P3 1G<br>P4 3.06G/533<br>Q6600 2.4/1066<br><br>I've replaced by X6800 with the Quad above and the X is going in my new HTPC being assembled and burned in over the next week or so.]]></description>

I wish I could get MORE systems online, one day I hope to, but what I hope for more than that is a cure so it isn't needed!<br><br>Suggestion:  Maybe a new thread with ALL the proper processors listed should be made and start this over again, so we can get an accurate graph?  It isn't right that a major processor series such as the s939 be missing.  Not jumping anyone's case here, just suggesting a new thread with a full list that includes Apple computers and their processors as well.  <br><br>I suggest this because it would be neato to have an accurate graph and even watch a trend!<br><br>Of course, Quad cores currently, and those to come, should be listed as well!<br><SMALL>--<br>I don't claim to be a genius.  Sure, I used to be one of those dorks, but I lost my IQ, so forgive me my occasional addled mistake!  At least I admit to my errors, which are frequent, I am old... My primary desktop is now an Intel Core 2 Extreme but I haven't worked on overclocking yet.  I had lost a power-supply in one of the P4 3.06s but its back on line now too.<br><br>The total is now:<br>P3 1.4G<br>P4 2.6G/400 @ 2.91G<br>P4 3.06G/533 @ 3.2G<br>P4 3.06G/533 @ 3.4G<br>X6800 2.93/1066 @ 3.2G/1162<br><br>I'm using Vista (64 bit) with VirtualPC 2007 (Beta) to host XPSP2 (32 bit) to not lose "backwards compatibility".<br><br>With many new processors being 64-bit and multi-core you'd think UD would want to take advantage and release updated software :(<br><br><SMALL><B>Edit:</B> I'm now OC'ing the new cruncher slightly</SMALL>]]></description>

I finally *almost* have a dream system for the first time in my life, sure, not the hottest, but for me, a dream.  I just need a real motherboard and a PCI-Express video card for it, since my ASUS A8V Del is NOT a real motherboard IMHO...<br><br>I run folding too on this, they run happily just fine beside each other!  Too bad I can't afford a new Quad Core, i could at least triple my count!<br><SMALL>--<br>I don't claim to be a genius. Memory, Disk, and Network all contribute.  Points are meant to "even out" systems as a whole.<br><br>Results, OTOH, may be more meaningful but since jobs are not consistent that isn't really useful either.<br><br>To do a fair comparison of AMD vs Intel the exact same jobs need to be given to both over a period of time and the total number of results should be compared.<br><br>I don't really keep track of my crunchers' progress other than to make sure they're all still cooking  (literally!)  I lost a mainboard a while ago and stuck in an AMD Athlon 900 for a while - after all (to paraphrase  lilhurricane <A HREF="/useremail/u/751678"><IMG SRC="http://i.dslr.net/bb/profile.gif" ALT="See Profile" BORDER=0 WIDTH=16 HEIGHT=11></A>) every bit counts.]]></description>

If you add the current numbers for specific Intel/AMD cpus, you get 55/33, but there's 10% in Other.<br><br>The 10% is probably a mix of Opterons, Xeons, AMD X2's and the occassional PowerPC.<br><br>But I'd actually expect Intel to probably hold the lead from the simple fact that most off-the shelf systems come with Intel vs AMD CPUs.  Think of all the Dell's people have bought - pure Intel thru and thru for the desktop and laptop lines.<br><br>It would be interesting to tackle it from another angle - what types of systems are those with the top points/hour running.  I looked at the current (5/26) list and tried to correlate names in it to names in this thread and couldn't come up with enough info to be truly meaningful, but I did note that three in that list (SpyderWoman [whose machines are actually mine physically], is all AMD,  seagreen <A HREF="/useremail/u/390171"><IMG SRC="http://i.dslr.net/bb/profile.gif" ALT="See Profile" BORDER=0 WIDTH=16 HEIGHT=11></A> is AMD based, and  poppster <A HREF="/useremail/u/919521"><IMG SRC="http://i.dslr.net/bb/profile.gif" ALT="See Profile" BORDER=0 WIDTH=16 HEIGHT=11></A> is running 2 AMDs and one older Intel system.  But you'd also have to find out who's running 24/7 and who isn't.<br><SMALL>--<br>...then THINK! again!!</SMALL>]]></description>
