 | The law of diminishg returns If you stand back and look at this bill, and ask yourself WHY such a bill could even be proposed, the reason becomes clear. The existing laws are not 'saving' the megacorps, the existing laws are apparently NOT providing the higher profits, etc. Since the current laws aren't working, their logical approach is to make a newer, even tougher law.
But it will fail, even worse than the first one, and will lead to a cascade failure of the legal system of the US. As our favorite paid corporate shill likes to say, "80% of all computer users are thieves". That means that 80% of the population does not respect the copyright laws, as it should be, so why should that same 80% respect traffic laws? embezzlement laws? or any law for that matter? Just like the prohibition, the law had the effect of making everyone a criminal, and once you think of yourself as a criminal, then why should you care about ANY law? -- The central injustice of capitalism is the exploitation and alienation of labor. | | Reviews:

I had a similar but off topic conversation with a friend about Sudafed. Here in AZ regular people like me are being asked for ID, having their names, birth dates, address, and signatures logged all in the name of stopping meth.
I know meth is bad, but no one logs the name of the person who buys liquor and plows in to a soccer moms mini-van. Do we now change the law and log all liquor purchases?
Any one using Sudafed must be drug addict who is criminal and therefore it is ok to violate their privacy. I know I get the evil eye every time I ask for the old Sudafed.
The new SudafedPE is made with phenylalanine (just like aspartame) but has no warnings on it. The new SudafedPE could put my wife in the emergency room. When I take the new SudafedPE, it sends my blood pressure through the roof.
So this is what it feels like to be like a criminal - interesting. So now I just must accept the fact that I am a criminal... | |
