 | reply to touser5 AVP (or Kaspersky Anti-Virus) has four parts and they are: AVP Monitor, AVP Scanner, AVP Updater and AVP Control Center. The Monitor is the real-time monitor. This is the most important part of the three. Second, the scanner which is on-demand (meaning: whenever you need it). The Updater is exactly what it is, it updates whenever you want to (preferably once a week or more). And lastly, the Control Center which allows you to schedule tasks.

Re: Configuring Kasper Sky AVP. please help Which Kaspersky did you get? From where? I have Personal Pro. I'd uninstall it and re-install *without* Control Center if you absolutely don't need unmonitored scans. I don't leave my box on 24/7 and like to be there when she does anything As far as the Monitor, that's pretty self explanitory on the options screen. For the Scanner, open up the options and check the boxes that you want. You can save as many profiles as you want. I just have one with the strictest options, that way I can right click a file or scan the whole comp and be *sure* of no infection. Save it as default. |

Good Explanation! As long as your MONITOR is running in your start menu on boot up & the monitor icon is in your bottom right hand corner = Kapsersky AVP is doing it's job. You can set the monitor to run in the CONTROL CENTER. This is 1 thing I hate about Kaspersky products = there not as user friendly as others in my opinion. And the last few major software updates they have had = haven't really changed this. Great virus protection though. I use the Kaspersky Personal Pro myself. If you want to make sure your kaspersky or any anti virus is working - do the EICAR test here This test has several test files that will show you if your anti virus is working. They are completely safe = but if your anti virus is working proper - when you use the files - you will get an alert!! But basically the only thing that needs to run in real time always is your monitor. You can do your updates from the monitor also. Used to be able to scan from there to - but in the latest feature that option seems to no longer be there. -- Test Your Anti Virus & Firewall - MORE!! at IGGYZ [text was edited by author 2001-10-17 15:01:09] |
