They can let the NSA tap my phone and withold FTTP -- as long as these prices just keep getting better and better (hell I'm send'n 'em bad checks anyway ) -- "Now is the time for all good men to come to the aid of their country" - and stop the NeoCons |

 | reply to NewMariner I also have sent an email to sr4r99. The last time I tried to get the 6 meg plan (for quite a bit more money), the nice lady on the phone told me I was 800 feet too far (according to their database). I sure would like to get in on this. |

To inquire about the new Elite plan, you need to call the EPC Residential number listed on the link posted above. I've called 2 different numbers before trying the one above and having success. If they've told you it's unavailable and you are pretty sure you're within range of your CO, call again. |

Any way I can just keep what I got, but get the higher upload speed to 768??? |

 | reply to DragonFire said by DragonFire:said by Skunko:said by DragonFire:I have to wait a few days for them to check my loop length which seems silly since I already have the 6Mbps. Call back and get another rep. The first one filled you full of BS. Just called back but used the EPC number this time and got it ordered right off the bat. I should have the upgrade by next Tuesday. If it's just a matter of updating my profile, perhaps by this Friday? I can hope. Could be monday. Exactly very silly since you already have 6mbps. The rep is blindly checking unnecessary requirement that you should be exempt from it. According to the rep I am 12,000ft and all they can offer me is express. So pro speed or elite, is not available in my Area yet I have had 6.0 expert plus for a year in Feb of 2004 to Feb 2005. Something tells me that their distance checking is way off. This is a new subdivision built recently since 2002, I moved in 2nd quarter 2003. At pro speed my SNR is 18, Attenuation is 21 Expert Plus SNR 12, Attenuation 27 So I must be within 7500FT, possibly 5000ft. |

YEEEE HAWWWWWW! |
|
 | reply to NewMariner Yippie!!!!! I got a call and my order has been placed! The agent left a voicemail saying that they tested my line as I requested and that I can hold the speed.
No one said anything about rebooting the modem or what time though. I guess we'll cross that bridge when we get there. |
|
2 edits | Rebooting is for cable user since the profile is in the modem. For DSL it's set at the remote terminal meaning the modem is servant to those who service it. |
|
 | reply to NewMariner Now I'm just waiting for all the posts on the 2nd/3rd that say "my modem says 6.0 but speed test still says 2.4"
Note to SBCDirect: Prepare for profile fixing hell day!
Seriously, this pricing is a step in EXACTLY the right direction. They advertised Pro as $5 more then Express. Following that login Elite should be $10 more then Pro. Now it is, and I'm actually the closest I've ever been to being a very happy camper with SBC. |

 | Anyone know if and/or when the Business Elite packages might get a drop? Still paying $99/mo for 6.0/608 with 5 statics, since it was the only way to get 6.0 when I ordered... |

It certainly is a chore to call in for services. It is amazing how each operator will give you different information. Oh well it is done. |

Usually 2-3 days not 24hrs, then on 6th or 7th day the download gets uncapped to what your profile are. I may see my profile updated to 6.0/768 on friday or monday but I'll be stuck at 2.5mbps throughtput until May 2nd. |
