| I live in a country with a state controlled phone company. Long distance charges are high and therefore Skype is popular. I'm posting, however, to correct the misnomer that international long distance is expensive in Europe. In most countries in Europe, the rate is competitive to the US. My friend in France calls the US for free as part of her long distance plan from Free. My friend in Germany calls the US for 1 euro cent a minute. My friend in the UK pays a 2p (four US cents) connection fee to call the US and can talk for as long as he wants. These fees seem competive to the US. |
