Take your time AT&T

Go ahead and take your time AT&T, as Time Warner and Cox Cable have you already licked here in San Diego.

Well, there's no rush here in Valencia, although I have seen A LOT of SBC trucks in the area over the past couple of months, and according to SBC/AT&T tech (had to test my line and degrade my service), they're doing fiber on Lyons Ave in Newhall, CA.

Unless they can offer as good of a deal as DirecTv, I don't see them getting any real customers.

Comcast (Valencia/Castaic) = $$$
DirecTv = good value
SBC/AT&T = ???

I use a combo - SBC/AT&T phone lines + DSL Extreme DSL. Comcast is too expensive. There are MANY Dish / DirecTv roof tops in my neighborhood.

Me too. I don't know what they're doing, but there's been a guy sitting at a computer chair pulled up to a B-Box for hours on end (going on and off for several days now) near my place.

You know what "forward error correction" means? It means they're going to need more bandwidth than they anticipated to deliver the data reliably. Oops. I think at a minimum they're going to need to dedicate one 24mbps line to video alone, and offer data on a separate line (or just bond two together).
