What is the definition of VoIP? Voice over IP (or voice over data). In some ways it can be considered a telecommunications service, and in others just more data on the Information Service. At the most they should only allow it for VoIP. At the MOST! But once you put in the "backdoor" for the VoIP services any packet is game. So, is it a telecom service or just an extension of the Information Service? Does the communication medium make a difference? I'm thinking no, but at the same time I don't want them to have open access to all data on a network.

I wouldn't doubt someone somewhere in congress will push to change it so VoIP is considered telecom.

Don't count your chickens before they hatch. The other judges seem inclined to go along with the FCC, especially about VOIP. The best those that are aginst the FCC interpretation can hope for is that the panel will not extend it to all data on the internet but limit it to VOIP. And the cost to ISPs and colleges would still be the same even if it is limited to VOIP. Oh, and the government gets to appeal this up to the Supreme Court where the majority will probably go along with the government.
--
--
Join Red Room Forum
BLOG tkjunkmail.blogspot.com
My Web Page
