WTF kind of crap are they plastering on the machine that will allow playback that other machines won't have?

Nothing like making a killing on money saved from pressing, packaging,shipping too!

Maybe if people keep complaining, some "leet" people will make a codec that allows the movie to be burned and played anywhere. The saying "There's more than one way to skin a cat." comes to mind with this. Just sit back, let it deploy, and months later, someone will have it cracked. I love this world

There's a way around this. Simply build a HTPC (Home Theater PC) and install Windows Media Center. D/L it to THAT PC, and you're set. With the recent introduction of perpendecular hard drives by Seagate at 750GB, with 960GB coming fairly soon. That'll hold a lot of movies.
