I am sure customer service knew that I wanted a Cable Card but that apparently got lost in their communication with the local installers (both days). It still seems strange that neither tech knew what a cable card is.

They are charging me only the rental fee for the Card ($2.95) until the DVR is replaced. I still have not heard that anyone in this area has a working Card.

That's probably what he meant, but if they would swap a VCR (cheap, antiquated device) for a registered cable card (expensive, useful, current tuning/control device) it would be a good deal ;)

Two days in a row they sent a tech to swap my VCR for a Cable Card. On both days the tech said "I,m here to pick up your VCR". I said no....I want to swap it for a Cable Card. Both techs reply "What is a cable card and what does it do" ? Called customer service again and now they say they are on back order.

Now I am wondering if they were ever available, or they are not yet working with FIOS.
