It's hard to imagine the picture quality would be as good when it's that compressed. I'd be interested to see hear from users in San Antonio how it looks when it becomes available. |

 | That's right, there is a no MPEG-2 or MPEG-4 HDTV at 4 Mbps. Best one could hope for now is roughly 9 Mbps.
Can anyone report what brand STBs they are deploying?

I should have notated that was ridiculously optimistic.
In reality I've heard they're trying to squeeze two HD channels into 14Meg with overhead. I've also heard their HD solution is still far from where they'd like it to be. |

 | While that is true, good looking HD (720p) is about 6Mbps. So, you are taking out a 1/3rd of the information to get it down to 4Mbps. It should be noted that 6Mbps is achievable only when compression on a computer. Real time would mean higher bit rates. |
