12/11/2007 - UFRaw-0.13 released, based on DCRaw v 8.80.

I can't explain the date other than a typo. Biggest change I notice is the saving of EXIF data. Previously, I was using a command line tool to copy it over (very tedious).
Other features:

* Simplified output path logic - output path defaults to the path of the input path.
* Added 'System profile' option to read display ICC profile from the X display. Based on code from Gimp.
* Do not read/write display ICC profile from/to ID files.
* Show camera white balance in EXIF page. Patch by Erik Burrows.
* Automatically fit histograms to allocated height.
* Read Canon lens from EXIF data. Patch by Andreas Steinel.
* Improved PPG interpolation. Patch by Alain Desbiolles.
* Remember maximized state of window between sessions.
* Add color smoothing option to all interpolation. Based on patch by alexander melkozerov. AHD+smoothing is exactly the same as the now obsolete EAHD.
* Added darkframe to GUI (patch by Bruce Guenter).
* Darkframe subtraction also handles hot pixels (patch by Bruce Guenter).
* Show spot values only if spot is selected and allow unselecting spot values.
* Add FITS output. Patch by Andreas Steinel. This option is disabled by default.
* Progressive JPEG encoding. Patch by Bruce Guenter.
* Blink over/under exposure in preview. Patch by Bruce Guenter.
* Enable --output option for stand-alone tool. It forces the output filename to the value specified. It is useful for F-Spot. Patch by Stephane Delcroix.
* Reimplemented the EXIF page. Patch by Andrew Zabolotny.
* Display flash mode in EXIF page.
* Moved shrink/size controls from Save dialog to main window.
* Added delete button to stand-alone tool.
* Added 'send to Gimp' option to stand-alone tool.
* Made the save-as button an icon only, to save space.
* Added option to save as PNG 8 or 16 bits.
* Write EXIF data to PNG files. Based on code from DigiKam.
* Added aspect ratio control. Patch by Andrew Zabolotny.
* New Spanish translation by Enrique Jorreto Ledesma.
* New Polish translation by Tomasz Golinski.
* New Korean translation by Homin Lee.

"Adobe has released updates for many of its imaging software packages. Photoshop and Bridge CS3 receive bug fixes whilst Camera Raw 4.3 offers support for Canon's sRAW format and EOS-1DS Mark III as well as Nikon's latest D3 and D300 DSLRs and the Olympus E3. Lightroom 1.3 gains the same additional camera support and will now work with Mac OS X 10.5 aka 'Leopard'. Also available for download is an SDK - in preview status - allowing software developers to write export modules compatible with Lightroom. Download links after the click."

Re: The Software update thread

*IF* there are any Olympus E-3 users beside me..there is a new firmware out.
Ver 1.1, update via Oly Studio or Master

Items Fixed or changed-

1.)
Enabled use of the Image Stabilization function with non-Four Thirds System interchangeable lenses by inputting a specific focal length.

2.)
Matched the rotation of the dial on the rear of the Power Battery Holder HLD-4 and the movement direction of the AF target.

3.)
Increased the number of storable still pictures by improving the battery check when the Power Battery Holder HLD-4 is attached.

4.)
Focusing now stops immediately when the AF start button (AEL/AFL or Fn button) is released.

5.)
Corrected the phenomenon where the flash control caused an under exposure while using bounce flash at short distances with the FL-50R or FL-36R Electronic Flash.

6.)
Improved selection and prioritization of the central 5 ranging points when shooting in C-AF mode and Dynamic-single Target mode.

Interesting that now, you can use non 4/3 lenses and still use IS, via a custom menu option.

Lightroom 2 Beta is released: »blogs.adobe.com/jnack/2008/04/li···the.html

The beta has a 30 day trial available. However, if you have an existing serial for Lightroom 1, that trial runs until the end of the beta period (August maybe?). Also, if you have a friend refer you, you can get the beta to last until the end of the beta period.

A few notes on that. First, it says for XP/Vista. It also works on 2000. Second, the new color modes that are available on the K20D can now be applied to shots from the K10D using PhotoLab.

DNG Profiles (Public Beta)

»labs.adobe.com/wiki/index.php/DNG_Profiles

We have been actively working on improving color rendering for digital raw photographs. Our new color rendering package contains the following components:

• the DNG 1.2 specification, which expands and formalizes the concept of a color profile for raw (i.e., scene-referred) image data captured by digital sensors,
• Adobe Standard camera profiles that significantly improve color rendering, especially in reds, yellows, and oranges,
• Camera Matching profiles that match the camera manufacturers' color appearance,
• DNG Profile Editor, a free software utility for editing camera profiles, and
• this web page, designed to help photographers get the most out of the new camera profiles and the DNG Profile Editor.
