olegy join:2003-06-02 San Diego, CA | satellite will never beat cable HD satellite PQ really sucks compare to the cable HD PQ. It suffers from : 1. been broadcasted in the lower resolutin aka "HD lite" - 1280/1024, 2. Highly compressed - blockness and/or blurring present.
Cable/OTA broadcast is usually full blown uncompressed HD. Dish owners do not usually realize what is they are in fact watching. |

 | Good point - aside from NBC who decides to overly decrease their bitstream during live sporting events, the cable broadcasts are in raw MPEG2 Transport Streams, not this pansy MPEG4 crap that the Sats need to implement. |

|
 | Point taken, but it must be done right.
I will stick with the proven until MPEG4 proves itself otherwise in the cable/iptv arena. |

yabos join:2003-02-16 London, ON | It's actually too bad they're going with MPEG-4 instead of H.264 since H.264 is even better than MPEG-4 for file size. The only downside is the amount of horsepower to decode but they could do it through hardware decompression instead of software. |

yabos join:2003-02-16 London, ON | Maybe so but it's still better than the traditional MPEG-4 as it's smaller file sizes for the same quality. |
