What kind of Kool-Aid you're drinking?
Go and visit Switzerland, Saudi-Arabia, Kuwait, let alone Monaco, Luxembourg, Lichtenstein etc - they all enjoy much-much higher GNI than we do.

Wrong. On a GDP basis, the USA is the wealthiest, most affluent, richest country in the history of the world.

No, you're wrong. It's not the GDP, despite your beliefs but it's the GNI. GDP is usually far from reality, only part of it. In our case it shows us in much better light but that's false perception.
The good measurement here is the GNI. Gross National Income is calculated per capita too and US lags far behind countries I mentioned above.

From Wiki:

"Gross National Income comprises the total value of goods and services produced within a country (i.e. its Gross Domestic Product), together with its income received from other countries (notably interest and dividends), less similar payments made to other countries."

In other words it's the GDP + other taxes + extra *net* income (income from overseas by domestic residents - payments made from home to overseas non-residents) from abroad = Gross National Income aka GNI.

FYI: it used to be called GNP.
