The technical/engineering departments of the FCC need to be spun off into a new agency and actually staffed with technical people. They would be concerned with technical specifications, frequency allocations, and technology. Then nuke what remained of the FCC and create a non-partisan agency that is run by ten commissioners with equal numbers from both parties. This agency would be concerned with competition, markets, boobies, etc. Have the commissioners chosen by drawing straws or picking names out of a hat. Anything has to be better than the President appointing commissioners. | |
