Stone Mountain, GA | [Tweak Test] PC Pitstop Optimizer I recently got a free copy of the PC Pitstop Optimizer with an upgrade to EZ Trust ISS and I'm curious.
I have 2 PCs that run different connections. One runs Comcast HSI 8000/768. The other runs BS Extreme 3000/356.
When I run the PC Pitstop Optimizer on both PCs it sets the RWIN at 256690 on both.
When I run the tweak test here I'm told to set the RWIN on the Comcast between 75920-200020. On the BS DSL it tells me to set the RWIN between 29040-75504. Now that's what range I had always set either PC at and my DL/UL speeds have always been consistent and well with in advertised speeds.
But here's the curious part. When I leave the RWIN setting at what PC Pitstop Optimizer sets, my DL speed has increased by 400+- on both the cable and DSL. It's consistant with several sites. TestMy, Speakeasy, DSLR, etc. My UL doesn't seem to be affected.
If I switch the RWIN to the recommended settings using DRTCP, my DL speeds drop back.
This is not a big deal, but I'm just curious as to what and who is correct? |

Stone Mountain, GA | I know what the Xp defaults are. I also have read the Tweak FAQs. That wasn't the point of my post. I've been here long enough to know the correct settings on my PCs. |
