The fact remains that only one group who had direct interest in the xxx domain actually wanted it, and that is the registrar who hoped to make money off of all the people who would feel the need to register the hostname they have under .com and .net under .xxx either to protect their branding as a porn site or to protect their branding by black-holing the domain (ie: microsoft would likely register microsoft.xxx to make it resolve to nothing). It was a bad idea that every anti-ICANN group is going to latch onto as their banner because it looks like a good idea to the general public who doesn't understand that it's existence doesn't mean that you can accurately filter porn just by it's tld.
