As you might guess from the photo, Catherine was unfortunately not the healthiest little girl when she was born. She is suffering from MAS (meconium aspiration syndrome). I won't go into the details here (Google it), but suffice to say it makes breathing very tough. Luckily, we are close to Boston and she was taken to one of the city's many fine hospitals very shortly after she was born. She has been receiving MAS therapy there for the past couple of days, and the doctors say she has made some wonderful improvements. We are hoping to be able to take her home after a few more days, or at least have her transferred to our local hospital, but we really don't know for sure when she'll be healthy enough for that to happen.
Becky is doing great. She did a natural labor and delivery and was a real champ throughout the whole thing. I was with her the whole time. She's coming home from the hospital tomorrow morning after a 48 hour stay. She probably could have come home today, but 48 hours are included in the price of admission, so why not let other people take care of everything for another day?
