Covad speakeasy question

I currently have Covad in my area. Do I need phone service in order to have the regular dsl ? I do not have a land line is my house. I remember ordering couple a years ago telocity and they installed a copper line, but just charged as a regular dsl and not dry-dsl

To my knowledge in order to have regular ADSL service you do require phone service unless you plan to get a dry pair which is 5 dollar's extra per month.

It wasn't that long ago you were blasting Speakeasy/Covad and singing the praises of Comcast. Something change?

Covad does not even sell phone service. Why do they even offer shared line dsl?

Actually they do it's line powered VOIP but still in beta stages in a few states.

But that's not the point Line shared is for people who want to have there landline but DSL at the same time. Those who do not wish for a landline simply disconnect there service and go for a dry pair.

These are the same people who use cellphone's as there primary phone's or VOIP services.

You can get Covad on a line with BellSouth phone service but not if it already has DSL on that line. You can't have two DSL services provisioned on the same line.

So your choices are (1) drop current ADSL on phone line and then order Covad/SE ADSL on that phone line (2) get Covad/SE on a drypair (OneLink) for an extra $5 per month
