Re: [new technologies] DHCP is up and running

FiOS is slated to go to DHCP on June 3rd in Oregon, so it's not out of the realm of possibility that it's working now.

I just tried it here in DE as well - and DHCP is working!

I pulled a 72 range IP - and have a gatway IP of 72.x.x.1 just like I used to with cable.

Even my gateway address in ping plots changed from a 10.x.x.x to the 72.x.x.1 address.

Hmmmmm...I'm just wondering if I should switch back to PPPOE until we're told to change.

And, as may be expected, my 1st speed test under DHCP came back a little quicker - ~150k download faster and up was faster by about 20k

John-
You think I should switch back to PPPOE until we get an official word?

Jeep,

Did you just change over to DHCP on the router with your username and password?

I'll bet VZ is in the process of changing over to DHCP. So this would mean those who switched to fios recently can go PPPoE or DHCP. Those who have been with fios for a while will be stuck on DHCP until VZ decides to move everyone over. I wouldn't expect the change soon - as all existing users would have to do one of two things; change the connection type in their router to DHCP or upgrade the firmware to change it for them.

I don' imagine it matters. If you lose your IP switch back. We don't know if they're doing a slow flip, or just testing.

Now we wish you'd asked them what they were doing at your ONT this morning. Can't imagine that there's any change to the ONT required.

I just flipped the 604 to DHCP and it came back with no IP. Told it to renew and it dropped the subnet and gateway too. Changed back to PPPOE and got the same IP back.

Are you business or residential service? Did you change firmware?

I have residential service and I downloaded the firmware posted here. After performing the firmware update the router automatically switched to DHCP.

I updated the firmware, and got the same effect as just a manual switch to DHCP. No go. Got my same IP back again, when I put it back on PPPOE.

Then DHCP must not yet be rolled out in your area.

Trade-
I just went into the router - changed the setting to Dynamic IP (DHCP) - hit apply - it rebooted - I went to the status tab, and there I was - on DHCP!

No name/password is required when you choose Dynamic.

Yup. Up and running on a 72.X.X.X IP too. Speeds seem a tad faster too. Pings look good also.

Cool Trade-
You're on 72.78.114.1 and i'm on x.x.214.1

Yeah speeds are just a bit faster - probably due to no longer having PPPOE overhead.

Sorry, felt like sleeping in :-P

Maybe since I just got it installed it was migrated into DHCP tables first?
