 | SD screens with downconverted HD content There is a lot to be said for watching HiDef material over a regular old crapolla StdDef TV (using component inputs). Generally the HD show, downconverted to regular SD, looks better than the original show broadcast in SD.
The key to this is the quality of the source material. The HD content is usually far cleaner than the equivalent SD content. The downconversion process should produce, unless done really poorly, a far sharper and cleaner picture than you would normally receive from an NTSC video broadcast.
You can even watch tiny versions of TV shows downloaded through iTunes that are of lower definition than SD. They look remarkably good even though the ipod screen is only 2.5 inches. |
