Re: [STREAMYX] New ADSL Modem 2/2+ DB102 IMHO, I feel it's a crappy modem (probably cost them RM10 each only ). I've already came across a few units which died off just like that, no lights at all when you power on. The power adapter is perfectly fine.
Another thing is it's suppose to support ADSL2/2+ but when I tried it on an ADSL2 line, it still goes back to ADSL modulation (G.dmt/G.lite). There isn't any option to force it into ADSL2 modulation.
It also gets hot very fast. The Enterprise / Corporate package are also given this modem, I wonder how long can they last if they are left ON 24/7 ! It's using Conexant chipset. Sometimes, it takes a few minute to get the DSL light stable.
The only thing I like about this modem is that the power adapter is small and light, it looks just like a Nokia mobile phone charger. Other than that, nothing to shout about. |

1 edit | For Riger DB102, just login to the modem..
IP : 192.168.1.1 Username : tmadmin Password : tmadmin
Then once inside the main page, click on the Quick Configuration button on the left. Inside Quick Configuration, under Encapsulation select PPPoE LLC. Default Route should be Enable. Then just key in your Username & Password for Streamyx. If you want, you can key in the Primary & Secondary DNS which is 202.188.0.133 & 202.188.1.5 After all this, click on Submit button at the bottom.
After that, click on Admin at the top of the page. Select Commit & Reboot on the left. Then click on "Commit" button to save all the changes made and after that on "Reboot" button to restart the modem.
When the modem has finish reboot, then go back to the main page. Under the WAN Interfaces, there will be one Bridged and one PPPoE Encapsulation. If the dot for PPPoE under status is green in colour, means that it is already connected to the Internet. |
