I just wished that it had a built in site survey in some kind of real time, without having to reload the page every time.

This is closer then you think :D

I have tested the beta version of this and the final release is to be ready in 2-3 days according to an e-mail received from Leszek just 1 hour ago. They had the 5GXi version done and were working on the 2400 series version. I will assume my final release will also have the 900MHz aiming utility attached.

Of all the firmware upgrades I have asked for, this has been one of the most important to me also.

luftul was not quite correct in his explanation of OSReset.

1. You do not need to know the User name
2. You do not need to know the IP
3. You do need to know the radios password!

One thing I have noticed that Rawgers may be experiencing is it defaults to a 1000mS search. I have had no problems with OSReset after setting the search to 3000mS (3 seconds)

That's a good point, I think you still need the password to reset it though. The program is not very stable as I've found out, at least on my computer.

People forget username/password or IP address of a radio but it is difficult to bring out the reset button in outdoor enclosures, so a special broadcast packet tells firmware to do the reset.

There should be no problem with this radio working within the same spectrum if Ubiquiti did their job. That is more of a radio function then a PCB function. The weather will be nice when this releases so we will have time to do field testing and not be limited to just lab results and calculations.

We will also be handing out free units as we did with the 5G to chosen evaluators in different demographics and climates to accelerate the testing process.

Yes, the PCB is proprietary. As you can see, no reset button, no LED's etc. The radio can be hard reset using OSReset, even if you don't know the IP and loose the user name.

I agree, there will be few if any firmware gotchas.

The PCB was designed with the SR9 in mind and if Ubiquiti had met their earlier projected release dates the 900MHz radio would have probably beaten the 5GXi to to our web site. The board was designed to handle 1500mA as the earlier SR9 specs were as high as 1200mA peak. We are now finding out that the SR9 is going to be closer to the 900mA to 1000mA peak so were in great shape.

Wile the firmware is being written in Poland I am doing the hardware testing here in Colorado.

Caleb; Yes, that's the new 5GXi board. That's why it took so long to get it released, wanted it to be SR9 ready first.

As for the 12dB question, the first units released will be N-Female bulkhead equipped so your antenna choice is not limited what so ever. You can't please all the people all the time but that will give us time to evaluate the most popular dB range of the CPE panel that will work for most installs.

I wouldn't expect anything higher then 12dB though. To stay symmetrical so you can change polarities easily your already into 220+ sq. inches of wind load area and that requires thicker backplanes, thicker radio compartments and heavy duty mounting hardware which all equates to more $$$.

To keep your cost to a minimum and have the most versatility an N-Female bulkhead version will please more buyers out of the box. When you do 900MHz you do mostly yagis for your short client links and spend only what's necessary to make a solid connection. A 9dB Yagi will cost you half what a 9dB panel will and your still under 20". To do a 15dB grid you’re into 1000+ sq. inches of wire.

My next priority is to see how clean the 700mW boosted radio is. I will post some Spectrum Analyzer graphs when I get time in the lab to play.

You can leave out "Just get it to work" as the PCB was designed with the SR9 in mind and there will not be any power issues, so months of development is already out of the way.
