IF you are running Windows..........Internal IDE drives do not require drivers when used in any Windows operating system from 95 up thru XP. All support for these drives is provided natively by the operating system.
The only drivers that exist for these type drives are DOS drivers. DOS drivers are only needed (to enable the drive) when you have no Windows os installed. When you have Windows os installed and running properly, the drive will be automatically detected/installed without user intervention. |

My PC with Windows XP Pro will not detect the drive. it installs it as a generic CD-R drive. It then states that Windows cannot find the drivers for the device. So it needs SOMETHING... |

What does your bios call it?
Make sure any jumper settings are correct (master/slave).
Try uninstalling the device through device manager and reinstalling.
Try looking for new firmware for it. |
