Re: A New Addition to the Home and its not a Mac! - Him advising physical punishment for infants
- Him advising "not running to pick your baby up when it cries" as a good thing because "God didn't rush in to comfort Jesus when he was suffering on the Cross""
Are you serious? So weird. I must admit, I have no idea what the books says, but I do agree that a set schedule is the reason why most read it Johnny.
"Using physical punishment, however, isn't effective or beneficial."
I agree. -- "He put it to into sleep mode and it died" |

Johnny, shame on you , you know that correlation does not equivocate causation. As you know, a failure to thrive is also accounted for lack of emotional and facial expression of mothers/cargivers. Also there is research that shows violence effecting the development of the frontal cortex ability for fight/flight and the brain becomes damaged. Prehaps physically disiplining a infant might better account for Failure to Thrive than setting a kid on a scheudual. I really think that the feeding schedul is harmless if parents are parenting cognitively. -- "He put it to into sleep mode and it died" |

And I love the comment about "parenting cognitively" ... imagine what a different world it would be if this simple maxim were followed across the board.

there are some lanolin-based products to help with Mrs. Hyperjoe's issues, i think. also, check the baby's latch when feeding. sometimes if they are on there screwy it can aggravate things. -- Yamaha Maple Custom Absolute Nouveau |

I agree with Juan -- lanolin-based products and she should be sure to air-dry after a feeding session. It's the bane of first-time nursing mothers, but it will mellow out. She should definitely make sure he's not latching on off-center, but I could understand if she was reticent to mess with things if the two of them are just getting the process down.
Enjoy these first days! Very special.

This forum is making very nostalgic -- I had to quit the baby thing early due to pregnancies-from-hell, fun to rememeber these times. |

I made a DVD containing video of the birth of ours using iDVD, and mailing it to all our relatives. It was so easy....

It's all about the latch. If you can't figure it out on your own, go see a lactation consultant immediately. You should be able to find one through your hospital. They have group sessions that are absolutely fantastic for mother's self esteem and confidence. -- Iraq Coalition Deaths, Graphic | RC5 | bobrk |
