Of course...

...they're whores. Whether it's unions, telcos, energy companies, environmentalists or anyone else bribing them the result is the same: we get screwed...constantly.

Which is exactly why the two-party system, now owned by corporate amurka, does nothing but a kabuki dance -- with the corporate press corp in tow -- to run roughshod over the tattered remains of that "piece of paper" amurka is based upon.

Whenever you hear a pol state that this is a land of laws and not men, cover your bung with a frying pan; you're about to be reamed.

Vote third party: it's not a wasted vote because change takes time. Either we rid our nation of corporate ownership or we suffer the fate of all empire -- ruination and a banana republic way of life. Don't take my word for it, read a little history, folks.

And FWIW: the stock market is NOT the economy, and anyone that believes ANY economic numbers (or any 'facts', or statements thereof, coming from our government) is seriously in need of a checkup from the neckup).

I can't remember the last time I voted in a major election and didn't have to decide between the lesser of two evils. So I started looking into the Independent parties and was surprised at some of the good candidates there.

O/T but...

How in the hell are Unions and Environmentalists screwing you? I am a member of a Union, and try to be environmentally friendly. How am I screwing you? I am a Union member because I don't want my employer screwing me, like my last one did, and I am an Environmentalist because I don't want the government or corporations screwing up the environment where I live, so that is also to keep them from screwing me.

Here in California it could be argued that state employee unions are a large reason why our budget is out of control, the state nearly bankrupt and our schools a mess. Militant environmentalism could be blamed for some of our current energy supply issues as we aren't permitted off-shore drilling or building refineries. There is blame to go around for various issues but IMO all special interest groups are single minded and suck ass.

This isn't a Right-Left argument...wackos on both sides are dogmatic pieces of S who are running the country into the ground in their own way and can do so because all politicians are filthy whores and the electorate believes everything they see on TV.

My point this go around was about our filthy whore Republican Congress. Next week it could easily be about our filthy whore California Democratic legislature.

Amen...as a Conservative I see my party going to complete crap but they're so arrogant in Washington they think I have no choice but to vote for them because the alternative is somehow worse.

Only when they lose will they get their crap together...until then their whoring will only increase and us get more and more screwed.

I think a more open primary system may help though. The problem is each party votes for their kook candidate leaving the "other side" no alternative but to vote for their own kook. In my case I would have loved to have voted for someone like Lieberman over Bush but given a choice between kook Kerry and lamer Bush...I had to choose Bush. I'm sure some Democrats feel the same way and may have been willing to vote for someone like McCain but so long as religious wackos or corporate whores are our Republican candidates, they'll stick to their own party.

Hey oliphant, nice to hear from you.

While I agree that these are arguments that 'could' be made, there are arguments to be made that state employee unions provide numerous benefits, both to the employees and the citizens they serve, and those 'militant environmentalists' could be the ones preventing oil spills invading those beautiful so-cal beaches and refineries from gunking up the LA basin with more junk.

There is blame to go around for various issues but IMO all special interest groups are single minded and suck ass.
You know, the anti-union lobby and energy co. lobbies are special interest groups.

This isn't a Right-Left argument...wackos on both sides are dogmatic pieces of S who are running the country into the ground in their own way and can do so because all politicians are filthy whores and the electorate believes everything they see on TV.
I would tend to agree...

My point this go around was about our filthy whore Republican Congress. Next week it could easily be about our filthy whore California Democratic legislature.
Point taken, and accepted.

Have a good one, man.
